Towing services, sorted by what went wrong

Every job runs the same way: a call, a price, a careful load and a drop-off where you need it. What changes is the situation, so each one has its own page.

Start with what happened to the vehicle

A car that stopped and won’t start again is a breakdown tow. A crashed car that has already left the scene comes under accident towing. Car removal is for a car you want gone, and unregistered car towing for one with no rego that has to travel. Prestige, lowered and electric cars sit under specialty vehicles, and machinery moves have their own page. To start from the vehicle instead, the vehicle pages sort it by type.

On every job we give you the price on the phone, and nothing is booked until you’ve heard it. The vehicle rides on our Hino tilt tray, and a second one can come on the same trip: the rear lift raises one end of the second vehicle, which rolls behind on its other axle. The driver picks which end to lift. You choose the drop-off: your mechanic, your driveway, a smash repairer or the wrecker.

Some work goes to someone else. We don’t do roadside repairs, so a jump start or tyre change is for your motoring club. We don’t attend crash scenes either. In metropolitan Adelaide a roster truck booked through (08) 8116 9209 handles the scene, and in the country a local operator does. We move the car on afterwards.

Do you do jump starts, tyre changes or fuel delivery?

No. SA Best Towing tows vehicles and doesn’t do roadside repairs, so a flat battery, a spare to fit or an empty tank is a job for your motoring club or a roadside patrol. If the patrol can’t get the car going, ring 0457 300 057 and we’ll carry it on the tilt tray to the mechanic you pick.

Do you tow semi-trailers and buses?

Those need a heavy-duty recovery operator or a low loader. Our Hino tilt tray carries up to 4 tonnes on a 6.5-metre tray: cars, 4WDs, utes, vans, motorcycles, light trucks and machinery such as forklifts, tractors and scissor lifts. If you can’t tell which side of the line yours falls on, give us the make, model and weight on the phone, and we’ll say before you book anything.

What kind of tow truck do you send?

A white Hino tilt tray in red and black SA Best livery, with “24/7 Service” and 0457 300 057 on the cab door. It’s the one truck we run. The tray tips down to the road, the driver drives or winches the vehicle up it, and it travels with all four wheels off the ground.
