Two ways into the Port
For the old Port, the truck heads down Grand Junction Road and turns up Commercial Road past Port Adelaide Plaza, about 6 km from the yard. That puts it among the streets around St Vincent Street, Hart’s Mill and the lighthouse.
Outer Harbor and Osborne sit much further up the LeFevre Peninsula. For those jobs we take South Road to the Port River Expressway, cross the river and run up Victoria Road.
Fenced yards and machines on the tray
Much of the Port’s industrial land sits behind a fence. Gillman, Wingfield and the wharf precinct are full of yards with locked gates, sign-in sheets and site rules. Give us the site name, the gate and a contact on the phone, and tell us about any sign-in or induction the site needs.
Order pickers, scissor lifts and light trucks have all ridden on the tray. For any other machine, tell us the make and model and where it sits, and we’ll tell you on the phone whether the tray can take it.
SANFL days at Alberton
Alberton Oval is the Port Adelaide Football Club’s base and its SANFL home ground. Port’s AFL home games are at Adelaide Oval, but SANFL match days still fill the streets around Alberton with parked cars. If your car won’t start after a game, tell us the street and which end of the oval you’re near. The driver may wait for the crowd to thin before loading.
